The 8th Stata users meeting to be held in London will be held at the Royal
Statistical Society on Monday and Tuesday 20th and 21st May 2002.
This is the first announcement and call for offers of presentations.
Precise timings and the cost of the meeting will be announced later.
The content of the meeting is being organised by Nicholas J. Cox,
University of Durham ([log in to unmask]) and Patrick Royston, MRC
Clinical Trials Unit ([log in to unmask]). The logistics are
being organised by Timberlake Consultants (http://www.timberlake.co.uk),
the distributors of Stata in the UK, Ireland, Spain and Portugal.
The meeting is open to all interested. In past years people have attended
not only from Britain, Ireland and other European countries, but also from
the USA, Australia and elsewhere. Stata Corp will be represented. There
will be the usual `wishes and grumbles' session at which you may air your
thoughts to Stata developers. There will also be an optional informal meal
at a London restaurant on Monday evening.
We welcome offers of presentations. Please indicate by emailing either
Nick Cox or Patrick Royston if you are interested in offering (1) a 20 min
talk (followed by 10 min discussion), (2) a 10 min talk (5 min discussion)
(3) some other presentation. Presentations could focus on user-written
Stata programs, case studies of research or teaching using Stata, surveys
or critiques of Stata facilities in specific fields, etc. We have received
suggestions that more talks with a tutorial flavour be offered, and
welcome comments on that.
The London meeting is the longest-running series of Stata users meetings.
Records of most of the meetings so far, both in London and elsewhere, can
be accessed via
