Please see my "An Alice's analysis of Path Analysis" in Payne and
O'Muircheatiagh "Survey Analysis" (ancient, but still worth reading)
It comments "the more you look, the less you see" - i.e. path analysis is
little more than regression analysis with a different vocabulary applied.
(If you prefer, you could say it is Structural Equation Analysis" or even
"econometrics applied to social data.
In short - stick to regression with all its vafriants and all its faults.
Path analysis adds nothing new, except extra dimensions of confusion.
