Dear colleagues,
Jean-Marc Dewaele has asked me to forward this to afls-news.

Workshop "Focus on French a Foreign Language: multidisciplinary approaches"
at the 11th Conference of the European Second Language Association
(Paderborn (Germany) 26 - 29 September, 2001).
The multiplicity of approaches in the broad domain of Second Language
Acquisition has led to a fragmentation in terms of journals and conferences
as well as in the social networks of researchers. Cross-fertilization
between subdisciplines is needed to strengthen our understanding of the
richness and complexity of SLA.
The aim of this workshop is to bring together researchers from different
fields or subdisciplines who work on French as a foreign language. This
includes applied linguistics, applied psycholinguistics, psycholinguistics,
neurolinguistics, cognitive linguistics, cognitive psychology, personality
theory, sociolinguistics, pragmatics, sociocultural theory of bilingualism,
discourse analysis, intercultural communication.
If you would like to participate, please send an abstract (300 words, your
name, affiliation, contact information) for Full Papers (30 minutes
presentation and 10 minutes discussion) to: [log in to unmask] before
Monday 26/02/2001. You will be notified by April 2001.
