Yes this does cause problems. I only recently discovered that these
indicators are virtually useless, as they do not reflect the latest
position. The SLC told me that if a student has been revised once,
the revision indicator stays set to 'revised' for the rest of the
academic year, thus rendering it virtually useless as far as HEI's
are concerned, as the every time a student appears on a SLC disc,
they still say 'revised' - even if they haven't been since the
original revision.
To avoid sending the faculties duplicate fee records for invoicing
each time a fee schedule arrives, (as the revised indicator cannot be
used to identify truly revised records), I now have a file combining
all the tuition fee schedules received to date. Each time I get a fee
schedule, and using Access database, (matching on the fee
contributions and the revision date), I am able to identify what I
call 'true new and revised', and these are the records that I sent to
faculties for update.
It is just one more hoop we have to jump through in order to enable
accurate processing.
