Dear All,
Following recent discussion with Roger Clark at University of Reading, we
have realised that there are still some aspects of the HEI database that
may need more explanation.
For instance;
How to decide if a course currently running, is a UCAS course. If any
course has ever recruited through UCAS
( even if it doesn't now), then the UCAS indicator should show Y
and the UCAS course code that was assigned to it,
should be entered.
The data we issue to LEAs shows UCAS course codes only for those
courses that show a Yes indicator. Where you
have entered No, then LEAs instead are shown only SLC internal
course codes.
SLC only receives JACS changes data from UCAS. We do not exchange other
info with them at present.
Validation rules and drop down menus. It has been mentioned that the
drop down menus show abbreviated descriptions only, some of which are
not obvious. It may help you to know, that you can view full
description of all
QUALIFICATIONS, TYPE and METHOD of ATTENDANCE as follows;
Open the Courses screen
Select a course
Double- click
Open the course tab.
You can now view QUALIFICATIONS, TYPE and METHOD of ATTENDANCE
fields.
If you move cursor to any of these fields and hover, the full
description is revealed.
Change of course name ( but with no change of UCAS code)
Where a course changes name for first year intake, but other years
remain as before, you have two options of entering
data. You can either enter course twice; once for 2nd years 3rd
years etc. under "old" name and again under "new"
name, for 1st years only. Alternatively you can show such courses
once, under one or other name and include all years
term dates.
Hopefully this information will help make the task of providing us with
your course data, a little easier. If you require any clarification of any
of the above please call the HEI Helpline ( 0845 7023 316).
Have a Happy Christmas and a Good New Year.
Regards
