The truth is, we don't. Students often bring their ID cards to exams so
that they can transcribe their ID numbers for anonymous marking purposes (a
pretty feeble sort of anonymity, it's true, but there was a lot of
opposition to even trailling anon marking so with most things we went for
lowest common denominator - softly, softly, ...) Anyway, should the
invigilator notice that the photo and the person don't match, then they can
challenge, but we have no routine or rules about this. I tried a while ago,
but it was stamped on. Strange. I plan to try again as part of the review
of the 3-year trial of anon marking.
I'll post a summary of responses to the list.
In view of the above, I'd be very interested in this.
