Good morning.
I realise that this is going back an incredibly long time, but I wondered if
you had any responses to this enquiry to the student mailbase last year
about terminating external examiners contracts?
The University of Wales has now decided to put a formal procedure in place,
so I would appreciate a look at anything you managed to glean from other
institutions or indeed your own policy.
Thanks very much.

Subject: QAA Code of Practice - External Examining - January 2000
Dear All,
You will be aware that the QAA issued the above practice in January 2000.
Southampton Institute are currently reviewing their External Examiner
Contract particularly in relation to precept 4.
Precept 4 states "Institutions should define explicit policies and
regulations governing the nomination and appointment of external examiners,
and premature termination of their contract.
In addition their guideline states "develop criteria and procedures for the
early termination of an external examiner's contract.."
Could I ask if other hei's have already developed "criteria and procedures
for the early termination of an external examiner's contract" and if so
would they be willing to share this with me?
With thanks
