Subject: Enrolling students for the duration of the course
Traditionally at Southampton Institute, we have enrolled and re-enrolled
students at the start of each academic year. We are now reviewing our
enrolment procedures and are looking into the possibilities of front
loading the enrolment, that is to say enrolling students for the duration
of the course.
I would be interested to hear from colleagues in other institutions who
enrol their students in this way.
What are the benefits?
What problems have you encountered?
How do you keep track of the students, i.e. confirming they turn up?
Any financial issues, i.e. when do you raise the invoice?
Was there anything even after all your planning that came to light since
you started enrolling this way?
Would you, having the choice go back to the traditional way of enrolment?
If you could email me directly with your replies, I would be happy to
provide a summary.
