Hello Geoff,
My name is Glenn Barnes and I am working part-time in the Ontario, Canada
(Toronto) area. I am a C5-6 quadraplegic stemming from a diving injury
almost 8 years ago. I have a 2 degrees in business and physical education.
For some time I have considered starting an accessibilty consulting business
in Toronto. I have been compiling bits and pieces of information, web
sites, and different ideas regarding audits for accessibilty, and even some
building codes.
I have been trying too see if I can get enough knowledge around all areas of
accessibility so I can begin the process of launching a design consulting
business. I had thought that the best approach might be to specialize in
the interpretation and deciphering of current building codes on
accessibilty, by doing accessibilty audits. (among other things)
I am writing because I saw your ads for 2 Access Consultants on the
Accessibuilt message board. I have been receiving the messages from them
for years. Though I have never replied to any before I have found it
extremly informative.
In writing you today I had hoped you might provide me with some help,
information and some direction. I'm looking for anything...suggestions,
opinions, access audit examples, training manuals, anything really.
I realize you are busy so any time you could spare would be appreciated. I
also understand there are costs involved for many items and I would be more
than happy to pay for them.
Hoping to hear from you soon.
Glenn Barnes
