Yes, Disability Wales has produced "Conference Planning - a brief checklist
for conference planners", and includes planning a conference, booking
procedures, marketing and information and participation. It goes beyond the
minimum duties of the DDA and aims for a best practice approach. It costs
£5.00 stg per copy, available from:

Regarding the Millenium Stadium, Disability Wales, along with other local
disability and access groups, was consulted and involved in the design and
building of the project since its inception. It has a chequered history (no
surprises there) and those readers who would like to know more can contact
me at the above number or e mail. Essentially we were promised a landmark
exemplar building in terms of accessibility, but this promise was eroded as
overspends and building costs escalated. As you can deduce from previous
correspondence,in my view the design and build process did not deliver a
fully inclusive building.

Hi Anthea
Unfortunately I have not been to the place you mention, but can quite well
imagine the situation. Many venues do not have decent access to the stage
area except through a complicated back stage obstacle course. It was nice at
last year's Inclusion by Design conference in Montreal to be treated to such
levels of inclusion - ramped and steps to stage in all rooms, language
translation services and signing in ASL and FSL.
Disability Wales (or at least I think it was under their auspices) produced
a great guide to organising accessible conferences and is helpful to give to
administrators who may be unfamiliar with the concepts.
cheers
