Dear colleagues,
Can I draw your attention to the OH Study Day we are running at the annual
conference of BAHSHE, the British Association of Health Services in Higher
Education.
The conference is being held at Imperial College in London.
The study day will be of particular interest to OH nurses & physicians
working in Universities & Colleges. It is open to non-members of BAHSHE, but
we hope it will convince those who are not members to sign up.
The programme includes presentations and workshops on:
* the national benchmarking study of stress in universities by
Professor Norma Reid (Plymouth)
* the national benchmarking study of OH services in higher education
by Dr. Kate Venables (Oxford)
* Networking in the university sector by Celia Strachan (Essex)
* how OH advisers can facilitate a stress audit in their organisation
(Prof. Reid & colleagues)
* medical aspects of new HSE guidelines on preventing LAA in animal
research labs by Dr Tony Erlam, (EMAS)
* how to diagnose occupational asthma, by Dr Adrian Draper (National
Heart & Lung Institute, Imperial College)
* the health effects of non-keyboard input devices, by Valerie Woods
(Robens Institute, Surrey) & Sarah Hastings (Loughborough)
The conference fee is £70 for non-members, £40 for members if booked by 11
June. University accommodation is available if needed & there is a social
programme on the Monday & Tuesday evenings.
It's a great opportunity to meet colleagues working in the same sort of
environment as yourself to swap ideas & put faces against email addresses.
It is also a great bargain & excellent opportunity to update yourself on
important OH issues.
If you are interested please email me for a full programme and/ or a
conference pack.
If you are a safety officer reading this & have an OH colleague not yet on
the net, please print off & pass on a copy.
Thanks & hope to see you on 10 July
