Does Dover have a separate port health authority or does Dover act as the
PHA? Whichever it is, why not get in touch with their Environmental Health
Department who, I am sure, would be more than willing to give advice, not
only on the health hazards but also perhaps on ensuring that it is carried
out as safely as possible and even alternative ways of dealing with the
problem.

Dear All,
is there any specific surveillance that I need to carry out for sewage
workers? In the port we have a coach drop - the place where coaches stop to
unload their chemical toilets. This becomes blocked on occasion and is
sorted out by the Stevedores. They feel that they should receive health
surveillance for doing this, which I agree with but what exactly?
