I am sure some people will have seen this in other places but thought
it might be of general interest.
Pleased to note Paul Miller and colleagues' work in helping this along.

Subject: e-Government Metadata Framework
With apologies for cross-posting
The e-Government Metadata Framework has been officially launched. It was
announced in the House of Commons yesterday (see
http://www.parliament.the-stationery-office.co.uk/pa/cm200001/cmhansrd/cm010
503/index/10503-x.htm for the PQ and Ian McCartney's answer).
It is available at http://www.govtalk.gov.uk/egif/home.html under
'metadata'.
Dublin Core is now the official, mandated standard for metadata for
government information, and work is underway to develop the standard
further. The development of a Pan-Government Thesaurus has also been
mandated.

The Cabinet Office's computer systems may be monitored and communications
carried on them recorded, to secure the effective operation of the system
and for other lawful purposes.
