Dear colleagues,
My name is Emma Lundgren and since I have recently joined the Int-Boundaries
list I just want to introduce myself to you all and let you know that I am
here.
I have recently begun my PhD studies at the department of Political Science,
Uppsala University, Sweden. My area of interest, which I am planning to do
my thesis on, are the western borderlands of Syria (the Golan, Lebanon and
Alexandretta)The way I see it now I would like to try to find out what these
borders mean both to the Syrian government and for the peoples living in
these areas.
Borders are a fairly new subject to me and I would appreciate any advice on
good "border-litterature" on borders in general as well as borders in the
Middle East. I would also be very greatful for any advice on litterature on
the above mentioned areas (the Golan, Lebanon and Alexandretta) and Syria's
"attitude" towards them. I would also very much like to get in touch with
people interested in these areas as well as in Syria in general.
Best wishes to all of you,
Emma Lundgren
