Dear Dr. Jenkin:
I don't understand what you mean by UK higher Education, but sometimes I
saw questions which have to be asked one's lecturer. It is an easy way
of learning to ask the mail list how thick is the continental crust, but
by doing so he /she may only memorize the value not knowing how it is
estimated or what sort of uncertainty is involved in that value etc.
You may discourage this sort of question. May be I am too old!
