Other than a general opposition to USA attacks on Afghanistan I'm sure
there is as broad a spectrum of positions on present events as there
are member of this list.
One thing that still concerns me is that many on the Left have been
very eager to condemn the attacks on the WTC and the Pentagon before
offerring reasons for it occuring or explaining what should happen
next (as if they had the ear of Mr Bush). I am opposed to the politics
of the Taliban and Bin Laden but I cannot help feeling uneasy at this
need to apologise for and overtly distance oneself from the
perpetrators. Although a plague on both your houses is a fair
position we should remember that one of the houses is a massive
fortified installation with weaponary arranged from all points and
the other's house is a cave in the mountains.
What I real wanted ot know is that this is not the first occassion
where a disagreeable organisation has done, what the Left has failed
to do, and shacken Imperialism to the core. What have previous
radicals had to say on this problem, such as Marx, Engles, Lenin,
etc.? Any good examples anyone can offer?
Regards,
John Walker
