Halyna - would I be relieved to think that this problem & solution is
common - i.e. is it likely that if we try the upgrade we will find the same
thing?
Everyone else - I want to try the 5.5 in a narrow window this week before my
systems programmer goes on holiday - can anyone give me an idea of what I'm
looking for to show errors (that is apart from the upgdrade obviously not
working!) so that I can target checks to be made to identify problems?
I should think this would be valuable info to all of us.
Thanks
Kate

Subject: Blackboard 5.5 Upgrade Resolution
Hello All,
Paul Catherall of NEWI, North Wales posted a problem with the Blackboard
5.5. upgrade earlier today.
After some further investigation, Paul was able to fix the problem.
Here is the resolution identified by his technical team.
There have been some developments regarding our perl file
problem.
If you recall my last email, the package.pl file, part of the 5.5
update could not run.
My line manager has just managed to fix the problem, by deleting
a zip archive called package.zip in the perlEx/Bin directory.
Apparently the perl file, package.zip needed to remove and replace
the old package.zip archive, but couldn't due to a file permissions
problem.
After the package.zip was removed, the perl file could be executed,
and created the appropriate files; our 'system properties' shows
that we now have build 129, the correct one (it was 128 after the
main upgrade).
