Paul,
Unfortunately information on the use of XML related content within the
Blackboard environment is pretty limited in my experience. My understanding
is that Blackboard aim to increase support for XML/IMS content in future
versions - this is frustrating given the array of tools now available to
support courseware creation or conversion into an extensible format.
A case in point is the use of Microsoft's LRN content creator which as you
may know uses a specification similar to that of the IMS protocol. We have
tried uploading content created in LRN to Blackboard in both IE 5.x and 6.0
but the browser simply hangs. There was however limited success by linking
to an external address from Blackboard to where the LRN content was stored.
I'd be interested to hear from anyone who's had more progress in this area.
Hope this helps a little.
