Let me thank Beth for this splendid account of our Leeds
conference, most expertly organised by Ingrid Sharp. Once
again it has come home to me that WIGS differs from all
other professional organisations I am familiar with
because it draws so strongly on not only the academic but
also the personal capital each member brings with it.
I, too, have very much enjoyed my 6 years of privileged
collaboration with members of the committee, co-editors and
everyone else and shall remain a devoted Wiggie. Having
travelled back from Leeds to Bristol - warmly ensconced
amongst (very well behaved) football fans and trying to
protect the wonderful bunch of flowers I had been given at
the business meeting, I found in the envelope that went
with it 2 book vouchers. Thank you, everybody, for your
generosity!
With all good wishes for a happy Christmas and a wonderful
new year (and a hug for Mererid in distant Berlin)
