DESIGNING SUSTAINABLE ARTERIAL STREETS - REF 0035/MC
'ARTISTS' is a 3-year EU project designed to investigate how urban
arterial streets can be adapted to contribute to more sustainable
cities and a better quality environment, both in relation to traffic
movement (encouraging use of more sustainable modes) and the
public use of street space. You will need an understanding of how
streets operate, their social and economic functions, as well as
practical experience of roadspace re-allocation techniques and
urban design issues.
PUBLIC PARTICIPATION IN TRANSPORT SCHEMES - REF
0036/MC
'GUIDEMAPS' is a 3-year EU project designed to develop
guidelines for improved public involvement and decision-taking in all
stages of developing and implementing transport schemes of
varying types and at different scales, from identification of issues to
feedback on effectiveness of implementation. You will need a broad
understanding and experience of public involvement, including non-
transport applications. Familiarity with business decision making
models would be an advantage.
Each project requires a highly experienced and self-reliant
researcher, able to handle these challenging projects at both an
intellectual and practical level. You should hold a postgraduate
degree or equivalent, and have practical experience in the relevant
areas.
