The Royal College of Physicians of London, founded in 1518, is seeking to
recruit an experienced part-time Curator (22 hours per week). This new
post, part of the Library & Information Service (LIS), will be responsible
for the care, conservation and presentation of the object collections. The
postholder will also be involved in the development and documentation of
the collection to increase access to, and awareness of, its contents.
This includes mounting regular physical and virtual exhibitions and other
web-based activities. The complete collections for which the LIS is
responsible are rich in medical biography. This is reflected in the object
collections, which include portraits (mainly oil on canvas), sculpted
busts, cartoons and engraved prints, mostly from the 17th-19th centuries.
There is also a substantial collection of English silver from the same
