When I used to travel on the British railway system there was a very British
sounding voice on the trains that used to tell you to mind the step and the
name of whichever station you were approaching. A couple of weeks ago I took
a short train ride from the centre of Brisbane to the international airport
and was greeted with the same British voice! Is this an example of the
globalisation of the accent, or simply a case of it being cheaper to use the
British voice in Australia.
Cheers
Neil
