POSITION AVAILABLE, Neuroimaging Research Lab, Long Beach VA Medical Center,
Long Beach, California
The Neuroimaging Research Laboratory has recently received two substantial
grants to continue functional MRI studies of movement and sensation, along
with other electrophysiological studies.
We are looking for a research technician, with a master’s degree, or
equivalent experience, in engineering, physics, computers or other related
field.
The successful candidate will provide technical support for the research
activities of the Neuroimaging and Addiction Research Laboratories by being
trained to operate a functional MRI scanner and to support the computers and
EEG machinery of the labs. He or she will use and maintain the current
laboratory equipment (electrophysiological recordings, computer systems) and
will collect functional magnetic resonance images of subjects in the various
research protocols. While training will be supplied to enable the employee to
use the equipment safely, the training does require background familiarity
with computer systems, mathematics, and electrical engineering.
Flexible hours are a must, as the fMRI data collection occurs in the evening.
The position is for one year with expectation of renewal, and is available
immediately. Funding continues through March of 2004.
American citizenship is required. Salary commensurate with experience; the
position is judged a GS-9 level with liberal Federal Government benefits. Send
application materials to Dr. Jessica Turner, Neuroimaging Research Laboratory
(151-J), Veteran’s Affairs Healthcare System, 5901 East 7th Street, Long
Beach, California, 90822-5201. For further information contact Dr. Turner at
[log in to unmask] or (562) 494-5885.
Thank you!
