There is probably either something wrong with your image file format, or the mex
files weren't compiled properly.
Check that the dimensions shown by <Display> are correct, and that the .img file
is big enough. Sometimes .img files are too small, possibly because disk space
or quota ran out when they were being created, and sometimes because the program
creating them crashed or was interrupted.
To check if the mex files are compiled properly for your architecture, type the following
into Matlab:
spm_slice_vol
If the error message is the following, then the mex files should be OK:
??? Inappropriate usage.
Error in ==> /local/spm/devel/spm_slice_vol.mexglx
