Anyone else like to comment to David Johnson?

Dear David,
Personally I read JRL for the basic news about Russia,
I can't go to the trouble of buying newspapers and scanning
them every day.
I am a linguist, so always appreciate news about cultural
matters, particularly news about language policies throughout
the FSU and the fate of the Russian language, which is
suffering intense pressure from all sides.
Documentary accounts of ordinary life are much more vivid
than news reports and can be gripping. You have these
already.
Where certain primary documents are released and are
suitable, they are of great value - for example the election
rules, or guidance for firms setting up in Russia. I forwarded
the last item to a UK academic list, and this brought two
enquiries into my Inbox: one from George Soros's secretary
and one from a firm investigating trading links with Russia.
Personally I don't usually read the items about relations
between the USA and Russia much, and occasionally these
stray rather far from actual Russian interest towards internal
US politics. But it's easy to skip over these.
