Subject: LYRA - vocal group
Dear Friends ,
We are a Russian cappella vocal-group "LYRA" from Saint-Petersburg and we
are searching for new friendly contacts. We have obtained your details from
the Ceolas web-site (www.ceolas.org). We hope the information below might be
interesting for those who love music and are interested in the world
culture.
Our group consists of 5 members (2 female and 3 male) that are educated
either as opera singers or as choir conductors in St.-Petersburg's
Conservatory.
The repertoire of the group is pretty large: apart from sacred, folk and
secular Russian music, we also perform romances and arias from operas by
Russian composers. Some of the singers are members of various parishes in
St.-Petersburg and participate in worships.
The main aim of our activity is to make Russian Church music well known in
other regions by giving concerts and singing in the ecumenical worships, and
also to bring traditions of Russian folk music to people who are interested
in Russia, its history and its culture. From time to time the group goes
with concert tours to European countries: Germany, Switzerland, Sweden,
France, The Netherlands. We have also organised and accomplished a large
tour to the USA not long ago; we intend to visit Australia.
You have received this letter because we are trying to get in touch with
parishes, churches, cathedrals, musicians, music organizations and all
people in your country who are interested in 'a cappella' music. And if you
have such interest and can assist us in arranging a recital we will
appreciate your help very much. Maybe you or somebody of your acquaintances
have any contacts that for some reasons can be helpful - it would be a great
deal if you contacted us! Some of our American and European friends are
already trying to help us in getting contacts in Great Britain, Ireland,
Belgium, Luxembourg and Australia. With their help we have managed to
organise a dozen of concerts in your country so far.
But as far as we use to carry our travel expenses by ourselves, including
flight from St.-Petersburg to the country of our destination, we are in need
of organising some more events in order to cover these expenses.
That's why if by chance you find you might be helpful in some way, maybe in
organising an event, we would be much grateful to you if you contacted us
via e-mail: [log in to unmask] or via Fax: +7 812 108 3439
We would also appreciate if you forwarded this information to those who
could be interested in it.
Thank you very much in advance and please accept our apologies if this
letter was unuseful/uninteresting to you.
Kind regards,
Andrei FEDOROV
Secretary for "LYRA"-group
