Sorry to interrupt the sci-fi thread which I am enjoying. A
question or two.
Observing that gender _does_ make a difference, and for a
number of other reasons, I'm thinking of using a psuedonym
for my art practice and for my (hopefully) new career as a
writer. But I'm wondering what the implications of this
would be.
How would it work? I'd still have to use the same address or
open a new post box. If I used for example, the name J Hill,
no-one would know whether this was Jack or Jill, but if
someone sent me a cheque payable to J Hill I wouldn't be
able to deposit it to my account. And then there's the
problem of being invited to make a personal appearance, an
artist's talk, a poetry reading and so on. Then what to do
about the cv to date and all the work in it, and all the art
work signed by the other name. The curators and publishers,
should they be told who J Hill really is, and at what point
in time? There's probably a whole bunch of other
considerations I havent thought of yet.
I'm curious to know what your thoughts and experiences on
this are? Anyone been there and was it worth the hassles?
thanks in advance
Josephine
PS My mail server and my self have been having glitches this
week, I owe mail and I know I have not received quite a bit
