In the lyric "Let's Have a War", Lee Ving, the psuedonym itself a carnival of self
mockery, ironically intersperses the refrain "let's have a war" with facetious
reasons for warfare in the first movement, truer economic reasons for having a war
in the second movement, and then the self-conscisious "twist" before turning the
war against "the enemy within". This lyric is totemic of FEAR, especially since
it is one of their few works which talks about a fearsome situation. On the other
hand, while no one will argue that "Beef Baloney" is a work of art, its confusion
between the "baloney" of consumerism and the "beef" of sexual transaction is more
typical of the band members' honest confusion between an ironic stance against
middle class complacency and members' embrace of opportunities only available to
its middle class audience. The band became a brand name in Brett Easton Ellis'
first novel, LESS THAN ZERO.
Nevertheless, FEAR is now on a reunion tour in hometown LA (Agent Orange
opening). Unlike The Germs, which did not survive more than one album, FEAR
persists.

@SONG: LET'S HAVE A WAR
Let's have a War
So you can all Die.
Let's Have a War
We can all use our Brains.
Let's Have a War
Redeem this space.
Let's have a War
We have this place.
Let's have a War
Jack up the Dow Jones
Let's have a War
We can save New Jersey
Let's have a War
Blame it on the Middle Class
Let's have a War
Like rats in a cage.
Let's have a War
Sell the rights to the networks
Let's have a War
Nevermind about that last time.
Let's have a War
Give life a little twist.
Let's have a War
The Enemy's Within......
@SONG: BEEF BALONEY
1-2-3-4-1-2-3-4
She don't like fashions, she don't like phonies
She don't like junkies, she don't like druggies
She just wants my beef baloney
Beef, beef beef, beef baloney (x4)
She don't like salami, she don't want pastrami
She don't want a chicken, she don't want a roast
She just wants her double dose
Beef, beef, beef, beef baloney, beef, beef, beef
