First a really happy new year to all - and i mean this as much as i will
drink a few toasts to our variable work and workers just before new year
arrives. If knowledge so often depends upon a sense of trust ( and I
think in many ways it does) then I display one kind of knowledge here.
Such is one atmosphere( a spirit) to which OAE workers have always
touched my heart and very soul. I have been lucky to work in this
variable field and i remain drinking a toast to this spirit that moves.
My point however is far more simple. I merely ask a kind of question, or
pose an issue of concern. I merely IMPRESS a Monet like picture upon a
job of work that is, at best, translucent and at worst transparent.. Is
there a postmodern turn at work in OAE today?
Why would I ask such a question?
But if this postmodern-turn might be discussed I do feel that somethings
might find a strange kind of home, at times, through this list. Yes this
might sound a little strange in itself. But maybe the act of confronting
such an adventurous (anti)paradigm of sorts might help "centre" a
continuing communication. Is there a postmodern-turn at work in OAE
generally today? ( by OAE I am happy to include a wide range of workers
at work).
Those that already participate in this kind of debate are important but
those that have not yet participated in an OAE in such ways can never be
rightly "silenced".
Such a debate opens for professors and students and all workers of
whatever titles.
As such debates are, and have been, common in a generation of
educational arenas and have been common from art through to business,
from cultural studies through to dance and theatre, from science through
to metaphysics and through religion and through geography, psychology,
sociology, the arts and even through ecology then we might consider (
even if only for the fun of it) a reasonable debate from OAE.
I suggest, already, that this list ( through members) are quite able to
do this and I suggest that many might even find a kind of sense in this
once the stuff begins.
As far as I know there has been no such debate in public, yet with OAE
workers, around this kind of issue. Why not let us make a beginning
here?
best wishes
