Please bring this opportunity to the attention of potential candidates.
A postdoctoral Research Associate position is presently available in the
Dantus Research Group for Ultrafast Dynamics and Control of Chemical
Reactions
Projects may involve one or more of the following: Nonlinear optics,
four-wave mixing, pulse shaping, coherent control, IVR, photon echo,
ultrafast dynamics, laser desorption, mass spectrometry, quantum
computing. Projects are carried out in gases or in condensed phase.
Our group has two state of the art femtosecond laser systems with the
latest equipment (for example, a two-stage NOPA that produces 20 fs
pulses tunable from 490 - 1,600 nm, pulse shaper, molecular beam, FROG,
etc…) Exceptional applicants that would like to learn about femtosecond
laser technology can learn from Professor Dantus who has been working
with femtosecond lasers since 1986. Group members get to travel to one
or more national or international conferences per year to present their
research. The Chemistry Department at MSU has three other groups working
in ultrafast dynamics and we host several well-known scientists through
the Physical Chemistry seminars, Physics seminars and Departmental
Colloquia. Some group members also spend time in other research groups
that are collaborate with our efforts. These connections are very
valuable for making the step from Research Associate to academia or
industry.
Applicants must have (or expect to have) a Ph. D. in chemistry, physics
or related fields, be highly motivated and be able to work in small
teams. This position is only for people that are looking for an
exciting, fast pace, high productivity group (see our list of
publications).
For more information about our group,
For more detailed information about the current and newly funded
research projects or to find out how this position could further your
scientific career please contact Professor Dantus at [log in to unmask], or
visit our web site at: www.cem.msu.edu/~dantus. Prospective applicants
in North America can arrange to visit our laboratory and meet every one
in our group. Formal applications will require a CV with list of
publications and two letters of recommendation.
Michigan State University is an equal opportunity employer. Special
fellowships are available for minority US citizens or Permanent
Residents.
