People may (or may not) be interested in acquiring a copy of one of the two
following second-hand books.
1. A Glossary of the Mining and Mineral Industry, by Albert Fay. 1920
reprinted 1948
754 pp. U.S. Bureau of Mines. Around $20 (£ 15) + p+p.
2. A Dictionary of Mining, Minerals and Related Data, by Paul Thrush. 1968
1269 pp.
55,000 entries, 150,000 definitions. U.S. Bureau of Mines. Around $30 (£20) +
p+p.
Both are obviously American books so they will be based on American terms and
definitions.
Please Note that I am NOT trying to sell copies. In fact I do not actually
have a copy yet, they are on order. They should hopefully provide a
relatively cheap source of much interesting and useful information.
They can be found on bibliofind ( www. bibliofind.com). Surface post from
America takes 4 - 6 weeks but usually is not much more than posting books
within Britain.
Does anyone have a copy and can they recommend them?
Richard Amies.
