On October 12th 2001 we are holding a study day (in Sheffield) on
the above subject in memory of Maggie Smith. Maggie was a
midwife who was at the beginning of an important piece of work in
this area when she became ill and, tragically, died in February
2001.
The day aims to raise awareness of the implications of childhood
sexual abuse for providers of maternity services. This is an area
which has received little attention, although there is growing
evidence that childbearing and care during childbearing can trigger
powerful memories of abuse amongst survivors.
All profits from the day will be donated to Maggie's Fund.
If you would like more information, please see our website (address
below) or contact Jane Durell - [log in to unmask]
Best wishes
