The Adolescent Health Forum in partnership with The Faculty of Health and
Social Care Sciences (Kingston University and St. George's Hospital Medical
School) invite you to attend -
"DOT.COM CULTURE - YOUTH CULTURE AND THE NURSES RESPONSE"
This is a one-day learning and sharing event for professionals working with
young people, at the RCN Head Quarters, Cavendish Square, London, Saturday
13 October 2001, 9.00am-4.30pm. (£45)
The purpose of the day will be to explore a range of general and specific
issues of interest, in the broad context of youth culture and the
professional's response. The event will begin with a presentation from
Marcelle de Sousa, Chair of the Adolescent Health Forum.
Central to the day are two fun and interactive theatre performances by Loud
Mouth Education Company. "Trust Me" is an interactive theatre piece that
explores young peoples' views of pregnancy and contraception. Loud Mouth
uses drama, comedy and discussion to explore the difficulties many young
people have in accessing services and negotiating the use of contraception.
"It's probably nothing" explores young mens' attitudes towards their health
and health services and highlights communication issues between young men
and professionals.
Small group work sessions will also be run covering a broad range of issues,
responses and approaches to working with young people. Professionals who are
experienced at working with young people will facilitate these sessions.
There will be a choice of sessions to attend including;
- Street youth issues and response,
- Sexual health - issues and approaches to working within young peoples'
worlds,
- Loss and bereavement - the multiple losses of youth.
Target participants for the event will be for those working with young
people and those with an interest in the world of young people. A buffet
lunch will be provided. As places are limited please book now to avoid
