Following on from the publication of Paul Auchterlonie's 'YEMEN' as Vol 50
in the Clio Press's World Bibliographical Series, I decided to try and
acquire the books mentioned therein, and over several years I have been
able to find the majority of books mentioned therein, as well as several
that are not!
I am now interested in finding a home for the complete collection of some
580 books. Included are most of the rarest volumes, including most parts
of the 'Corpus des Inscription' in both the original and later versions;
three separate volumes of Niebuhr's Travels in the Yemen (the Edinburgh,
London and Perth W Australia editions of 1780-90; volumes of Raydan, and
all the earlier travel books. So it is fairly strong in archaeology,
epigraphy and travel, and where appropriate includes multiple copies of
books in various editions and reprints. It also includes various more
recent magazine articles and learned journal reports, including all the
National Geographic articles since 1909.
It would be an excellent acquisition for a University library, perhaps one
being currently established.
I am looking for offers on £25,000, and I shall be happy to provide greater
detail to serious possible purchasers. Please email me on
