Yes you are quite right, the searches are stored on the
webspirs server you
log in on and there are currently two so....until or unless
we get one big
one, saved searches can't be seen on the other access
method. (though we are
looking at the logistics of this, we currently use two to
give a backup
access method.)
and yes, the login does seem to be case sensitive in this
respect. We think
it's due to the way the actual typed login is used to make
up the file names
to store the searches and since Unix is case sensitive, so
is the file name
- Webspirs v4.3 does the same thing in case you were going
to ask, cos we've
checked, so there is not likely to be a short term fix.

Hi Robin
Melanie has pointed out an annoying feature of the joint
NHSnet/Internet
access. Is she right?
Is there any way around it?
Please can you reply direct to Melanie and copy me in.
Thanks
Rod

One of our Librarians has identified a most irritating
problem with ADITUS.
When saving search history's, retrieval is dependent on
consistency in which
access you use i.e.. NHSnet or Internet and also consistency
in upper or
lower case password entry.
So, if I log in via the Internet but I previously logged on
via NHSnet and
saved a search I will not be able to retrieve that search
during my Internet
log on and visa versa.
Also, irrespective of which access I choose if I entered my
password in
uppercase and saved a search I would not be able to retrieve
that search if
I went back and entered my password in lowercase.
Librarians are not consistent with logins and users will be
less so. There
is a potential here for folks thinking they have lost saved
searches.
Can anything be done?
