Geographical Information System (GIS) Specialist SMP for Health Authorities
(£20,028 - £26,364 depending on experience) Part-time with erpho and
Cambridgeshire Public Health Observatories and part-time with University of
East Anglia
(Fixed term contract 2 years)
This post involves working part-time with the School of Environmental
Sciences in the University of East Anglia (UEA) in Norwich, and part-time
with the Eastern Region Public Health Observatory (based in Cambridge,
serving the Eastern Region). You will also be working with the Cambridge
Observatory (also based in Cambridge, serving the County of
Cambridgeshire).
You will act as the lead in the erpho and will co-ordinate the mapping and
analysis of spatially referenced data to give a clearer picture of the
health, health determinants and health related activities and outcomes in
the Eastern Region.
You will also be the lead on the development of tools and methodologies for
analysing spatially referred health data (e.g., with ESRI/MapInfo
products). You will be responsible for developing existing methods for
mapping data both on paper and directly to the web. You should have a pro
active approach in promoting the use of GIS to enhance the work programme
of erpho, and you will ensure that active collaboration between the three
partner organisations is effectively managed.
Ideally you will be educated to degree level or equivalent and have
practical experience in the use of ESRI/MapInfo GIS products. Also you
should have experience of working with spatially referenced data, databases
and internet technologies. Experience in the use of statistical
methodologies for interpreting and understanding data sets. You will be
capable of project managing an interorganisational work programme.
You should also possess HTML skills - DreamWeaver and/or FrontPage,
database design, analysis and management and have the ability to develop
structures and systems.
