The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, London
Geographical Information (GI) Analyst
A fixed term contract to March 2003
£20,400 - £25,600
Would you like to develop a GIS solution that makes the Royal
Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) an even safer place to live
and work? The Metropolitan Police and RBKC need your
expertise to help them reduce crime and disorder on our streets.
You will be involved from start to finish - determining user
requirements, building a GIS (possibly web-based) application
and providing training and support. You will also become a
specialist user of the system and help the project partners build a
joined-up picture of crime patterns in the Royal Borough.
You should be a graduate in IT, GIS or equivalent and have at
least one year's experience of developing similar applications.
You should be a confident GIS user and be proficient in a
programming language. You should also be experienced in
maintaining and using Access databases. Knowledge of
geographical information, property and crime data would be an
advantage.
The post will be based in the Property and Land Applications
Team (PLAT), a dynamic team of seven staff that delivers
information solutions across the Royal Borough. The team has
built the Electronic Atlas, an intranet-based ArcIMS application,
and mapping applications for the RBKC web-site (http://www.rbkc.gov.uk).
PLAT is also responsible for the Local Land and Property Gazetteer
and leads on corporate Geographical Information Systems (GIS).
For an application pack, please telephone 020 7361 2237 (24-
hour answerphone), quoting Ref:CS441. Only people eligible to
work in the United Kingdom are encouraged to apply.
For an informal discussion about this post please contact Dave
Yarwood, Project Manager on 020 7341 5755 or e-mail
