I prefer evidence:
(Please include your quotes from Chomsky, you then are switching subjects).
In the clips below, if this is not fearor victimization or terrorism..Then I
would like you to define what is? The article I was particularly looking for
was the article where reaserchers in California working in the cancer field
were sent razor blades to their homes. The article stated that graduate
students where also harassed, and many had left these fields of study due to
fear of what may happen to them.
I've included a few more article clips below on incidents. In your next
segment,
I would like you to include a few articles claiming that these articles are
not
of terrorist nature, or support your evidence that environmental terrorism
is not terrorism as you claim.
Thankyou.

"The changes have not occurred by vote of society or because of new
technologies or efficiencies. Some are the direct result of violence mounted
by terrorists who elude apprehension and conviction, leaving victims
frightened. Over time, victims and potential victims adapt to the threats by
changing their ways."

"The militant animal rights movement has been especially active in Utah.
Authorities link much of the radicalism to Straight Edge, which grew out of
New York's 1980s underground punk rock scene. Members are strict vegetarians
and sport short-cropped hair, combat fatigues, and tattoos. In Utah,
hard-liners tattoo AK-47s and AR-15s on their heads. Their ranks include
males and females mostly from middle- and upper-middle-class families.
Authorities say the zealots take the clean-living philosophy to an extreme,
firebombing a McDonald's and a leather shop in the Salt Lake City area.
"You're a kid, and you've got all this testosterone, and you want to thump
anyone who eats a hamburger," says David Schwendiman, the assistant U.S.
attorney who prosecuted the Utah bombing case. "It escalates to arsons and
bombings."

"Two years of genetic experiments were destroyed that night, at a significant
financial, emotional and academic cost to the lab. By all accounts the first
incident of its kind in New York and one of only a very few in the eastern
United States, Thursday's raid also brought closer to home an issue that has
been on the front burner in Europe and on the West Coast for several years.
The activists at Uplands Farm left their mark in paint -- "ELF," the Earth
Liberation Front -- tying themselves to the British-based militant
environmentalists who oppose the transfer of genes between different plants
to create crops that are hardier, easier to process, better tasting or more
nutritious. ELF, an informal coalition without a central leadership, claimed
responsibility for the fires set at the Vail ski resort in 1998 to protest
deforestation.
"It really isn't just property destruction; many people view this as
ecosystem protection," said Denny Henke, spokesman for Genetix Alert Press
Office, which publicizes anti-genetic engineering activism. "They believe
it's the corporations and research entities, they're the ones who are the
vandals."
"We are deeply saddened by these acts and the damage done to our research,"
said Bruce Stillman, director of the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, in a
statement. "It is unfortunate that these individuals chose to use illegal
means and intimidation to promote their point of view."

=======================================================MINNESOTA LEGISLATURE
PASSES "ANTI-ALF" BILL
May 21 /99
AMP News
A crime bill which includes provisions to increase penalties for stealing
animals from research labs and to impose sanctions on those who claim
responsibility for a such a crime passed both houses of the Minnesota state
legislature last Saturday.
The provisions were added in the wake of last month's attack on University of
Minnesota research laboratories by animal activists. Legislators added a
clause that would make the law retroactive so that participants in the UMinn
incident would be subject to the penalties outlined. It is expected Governor
Jesse Ventura will sign the bill into law. The North American ALF Supporters'
Group today announced that it has established a legal defense fund to fight
what it terms government harassment of UMinn senior Kevin Kjonaas, who acted
as spokesperson for the ALF in the aftermath of the attack on UMinn's
facility. Kjonaas goes before a federal grand jury next month.

Thanks, Steve, that was the desired response! I realize my position is a
weak one, perhaps a better rhetor could make the case more effectively. But
just to throw a wrench in: what about state-sponsored terrorism. Chomsky has
a perspective on this.
