Hi, another point is that, sure people may start off
loving Keats and his language, and imitate him, but
thatīs not where we want to end. It is good that
people write and make mistakes, how else could one
learn! But that is not an end or even late result,
and I think the poem is an early result.
My essay on Wagner was trashed, somewhat unfairly,
since it was only a squib, an essay sent to (almost
anybody) to get involved, have fun with writing, not
designed for a pedant to weigh in with grammar books,
histories etc at the ready, which happened, to my
surprise. I must learn that when any writing enters
any form of public domain it is fair game to have a go
at it, whatever the intentions of the writer.
Do we know that Richard 3 was a bastard, or that
Shylock had been forced out of his job as a clerk in
city hall, of course not, we want to see the end
result. Does anyone care about these finer details of
history? Does it matter that many Jews worked with
Richard Wagner on The Ringīs Bayreuth edition? Does
it matter that Hitlerīs mother cared not a jot for
him, but only for his elder sister?
I suppose this brings us back to history, how ītrueīto
history should a writer be, any thoughts?
ciao-ciao,
Paul Murphy
