Subject: Job Vacancy
Please see below details of a vacancy at The Boots Company PLC
This is effectively a re-advertisement (the post was advertised in the
Society of Archivists Newsletter last month). There is no closing date as
such, I will post to the listserv again when the vacancy is filled.
Please note this job is suitable for a qualified archivist / Records
Manager, or someone looking for work experience before undertaking one of
the post-graduate courses. Salary and level of responsibility will be
commensurate with qualifications and experience - in the range £16,000 -
£21,000
Archivist / Records Manager - maternity cover - 6 month contract (from
December 2001 or January 2002)
We are looking for a versatile and enthusiastic individual to assist with
the delivery of both archive and records management services in a fast
moving environment.
Operating from a new purpose-buit records centre, we provide records
management to corporate departments. Following company restructuring in
April of this year, our remit now extends across the whole company -
creating new challenges for the centre and our dedicated records and archive
team.
We're beginning to implement a marketing policy that aims to fully exploit
both the archive and museum collections, providing targeted business
information for company colleagues. Through cataloguing, intranet
publication and further development of our customer relationships we're
poised to increase the value and reach of our in-house archive research
service.
You will need:
* an interest in gaining experience in both archives and records
management work - managing or participating in several concurrent projects
* to enjoy the challenge of delivering records services to businesses
undergoing significant organisational change
* the flexibility to support all aspects of the work of our specialist
team
* excellent organisational, time-management and inter-personal skills
