I wasn't suggesting this. However, the truth is that there appears to be
relatively few records relating to minority ethnic communities currently housed
in UK archives. This is clearly not a result of such records being originally
collected but then subsequently disposed of because they are deemed 'unworthy'
of long term preservation. Such records are simply not being acquired in the
first place. The only way to address this is by attempting to pro-actively
collect such materials. My concern is that the significance of the collecting
process in addressing issues of representation is being overlooked by
archivists.
