Lecturer / Research Fellow in Medical Statistics
The Medical Statistics Unit wishes to appoint a statistician. The post entails methodological research, and is primarily funded by the ESRC. The post holder will mainly carry out research in the following areas:
1. development of bootstrap and Monte Carlo methods for multi-level models and
2. use of propensity scores and covariate adjustment in non-randomised and randomised comparative studies of treatment.
In addition, there will be the opportunity to collaborate in a wide range of medical research projects. Teaching of postgraduate students, especially on the MSc in Medical Statistics, would also be encouraged.
The successful applicant requires an aptitude for methodological research, good communication skills and statistical computing experience. An MSc in statistics (or equivalent) is essential, and a PhD in statistics desirable.
The appointment is available for 2 years with the possibility of further extension. The salary will be on the School's RA1A scale, currently £19,854 - £28,545 per annum, with appointment at lecturer grade for sufficiently experienced applicants.
