POST of Research Statistician

Oxford GlycoSciences (OGS) are the leader in the emerging field of
proteomics, the comprehensive study of proteins. They have successfully
integrated proteomics with genomics to create an innovative
drug/biomarker
discovery platform that allows the high throughput, systematic
separation, identification and characterization of proteins.
The successful candidate for the position of Research Statistician will
join Oxford GlycoSciences to provide statistical analysis in support of
all OGS activities. This is a highly interactive position involving
protein expression data analysis with a view to uncover drug targets and
disease biomarkers.
The primary responsibilities of the posts are.
1) To analysis protein expression data.
2) To assist in developing novel statistical analysis techniques for
systems comprising of large number of variables.
This is a key appointment for OGS and will require the background and
expertise of a statistician whose credentials closely match the
following:
Background and Experience:
a) Educated to MSc or PhD level in Statistics.
b) Strong statistical skills and a thorough understanding of
experimental
data uncertainty is essential.
c) The ideal candidate will have statistical programming (S-Plus)
skills.
d) Previous experience of working with databases (SQL) and
scripting lanugages(PERL) is useful
e) Hands on experience with experimental scientific data would be
preferred.
