Folks,
Thank you to eveyone who responded to my cry for help. I am sorry not to have
responded earlier and I will reply individually.
The situation was that we were waiting for an insurance assessor to come.
Whilst we are still waiting (and one may not appear before I go away on
holiday) I have taken the gamble of seeing what equipment I could recover. (The
gamble being that if I can't recover something the insurance company may not
pay my time trying.)
The two keyboards I put under the tap last week did not work when opened up,
cleaned and dried but they seem to be OK now that they have had much longer to
dry. (And they look clean too.) I am having some trouble presently with a mono
monitor but a colour monitor has drained and now seems OK. I am gradually
getting round to all the machines. I guess the cpus will be OK and the water
did not go through them.
Even if I can get them running OK again I have no feeling for how the long
term reliability may be affected - anybody any experience her? I need to get
another year from the machines so I will be looking for spares even for the
bits I can recover. I hope to be in a position to compile a shopping list
before the end of the week.
Thank you all for your help.
John
