the closer the transcription gets, the more I wonder
if poetry as such is the right medium, if the concern
is to do speech acurately then doesn't poetry as a
literary medium become part of what keeps you from
being acurate? people unless they are in old plays or
poem don't talk in poetry.
Though the accurate recording of speech is more than
accent, even us dyslexic southerns with parents from
Birmingham who live in London (me) say what isn't on
the page.
I wonder if looking further afield for resources might
be an idea, have you looked at any of what is called
in sociology "phrasal analysis." a field for
analyising
the elisions in speech and many other interesting
qualities that make up what we call speech. There has
been for example studies done on how people introduce
theme into conversion and the work that pauses play in
this.
My hunch is that interest in recording speech is an
interest in class, gender or difference as the lit
scholars say, so perhaps looking further afield for
solutions might be a solution might be what is
interesting rather than focusing on accent alone.
