The Royal Astronomical Society is seeking nominations for its awards for
2002. This year's awards of interest to the BGA community include: (a) Gold
Medal for geophysics, (b) Harold Jeffreys Lecturer, and (c) Associate
Membership. For full details of these awards and copies of nomination forms,
please see the insert in the latest issue of Astronomy and Geophysics or the
relevant pages on the Society's web site
(http://www.ras.org.uk/nominate.htm).
In selecting people for these awards, the Society relies on the submission
of nominations from its members. So please may I encourage you to consider
if you know someone who fits the award criteria and, if so, please make a
nomination.
The deadline for submission is 29 October 2001. Nominations may be submitted
by email, post or fax to the RAS Executive Secretary (see web site for
details).
