Karl Carlile write that the Taliban have been forced to retreat
because of American bombing and offers them advice on how if they
approached the situation better they could withstand the offencive.
But surely the more severe bombardment of Vietnam and the sending in
of USA troops (rather than the hot-potch of the Northern Alliance
which walked through already deserted towns and villages) indicates
that this is not the answer.
The defeat should be seen in Marxist terms, that any organisation
cannot succeed unless it has a strong social base, such as in
Vietnam, Palestine, or Ireland. The Taliban fell because it had
little foundation amonst the masses and so as soon as the CIA and
then Pakistan withdrew their hand the whole deck of cards fell. We
must learn the lessons of this in order to interpret the other forces
present and the moment such as Hamas and those that will arise in the
future in oder to have a fuller understanding of the way event will
unfold in the coming period.
I don't have all the answers but we must start asking the right
questions. Communism needs it own media but it also needs greater and
deeper analysis of this news.
