New Exchange Agreement with Academia Sinica of Taiwan
The British Academy and the Academia Sinica of Taiwan today signed an
Agreement offering full funding for visiting scholars in the humanities or
social sciences.
The funding is open to UK postdoctoral researchers planning a research visit
between two weeks and three months in Taiwan. It allows for up to three
research visits per year, to a maximum of six months in total, to undertake
scholarly research based at an institute of the Academia Sinica.
A previous Agreement with the Taiwanese Academy only offered help with
international travel expenses. This new arrangement offers funding for
subsistence, accommodation, maintenance and domestic travel.
The Agreement was signed at a ceremony in the British Academy by Professor
Yuan T Lee, President of the Academia Sinica and Professor Nicholas Mann CBE
FBA, Foreign Secretary and Vice-President of the British Academy.
The first closing date for applications is 28 February 2001.
