Dear List
Whilst fully agreeing with your comments on the use of the internet for
information, I also understand some of Sarahs points. As a student I make
full use of the net, and all other resources available to me.
However, I am acutely aware that much of the information on the net is
not peer-reviewed or subject to other quality assessments. Therefore, at
undergraduate level, I feel it necessary to get background information on
subjects from reliable sources, whether they be journals (online or
offline), books or lecturer-guided material.
When I have grasped a basic understanding of key concepts from available
resources, then I may venture into the (potentially lethal!!) area of
discussion forums etc. This understanding would also help me be more
specific with my questioning. Would you like each undergraduate in the UK
(5000 and increasing) or abroad, to log a request for general information on
each module that they happen to be taking in 'a months time'?.
I feel priveleged and lucky to study in a country where we have large
amounts of resources available to us as students, compared to others. It is
important we respect this by using them effectively.
Anyhow, I have must stop there. I have incredible amounts of coursework to
do. Anyone care to give me information about musculoskeletal physiotherapy,
I have an essay on it due in 2 days time, and it is very important to me.
Regards & awaiting a slating,
Ben
