Dear Colleagues,
A great amount of work is taking place to shape the JISC's
Distributed National Electronic Resource. Please may I
urge you to have a fresh look at the DNER web pages
(http://www.jisc.ac.uk/dner/)? Some of the new information
you will find there includes:
1. 'Ladybird Guide' to the DNER
Now available at http://www.jisc.ac.uk/dner/background/
The three files that make up this introduction to the DNER
are better viewed printed than on screen because of the
resolution of embedded images. Enjoy!
2. Draft DNER Collection Strategy
Your comments on this document would be very welcome at
any time between now and 31 March 2001. Please see
http://www.jisc.ac.uk/dner/collections/strategy.htm
3. Draft DNER Communication Strategy
Available at http://www.jisc.ac.uk/dner/communication/
This and the Collection Strategy are the first of several
documents that will make up the overarching DNER Strategy.
To follow in the course of the next year will be
development, preservation, and service strategies.
4. DNER Development Project Information
An alphabetical list of all the DNER development projects
is currently available at http://www.jisc.ac.uk/dner/programmes/projects/
This will in the new year be joined by more
detailed project information and information about how the
development projects are clustering together to ensure good
inter-working and communication.
5. Interested in accessing humanities archival collections
held in UK universities? Please see "Accessing our
Humanities Collections: a subject guide for researchers" at
http://www.jisc.ac.uk/dner/programmes/nff/humanities_collections.html
This indexed resource can be browsed by subject area or
collection title.
6. Preservation Management of Digital Materials
Please see
http://www.jisc.ac.uk/dner/preservation/workbook/ for this
Scout-Report-selected guide to digital preservation.
Hopefully there is a little something here for everyone!
Happy Holidays,
Alicia
